Qualcomm Announces Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform, Complete Details will be Revealed Tomorrow


At its second annual Snapdragon Technology Summit, Qualcomm has announced its next-gen Snapdragon 845 mobile platform. We will be seeing this chipset in many flagship smartphones and Windows 10 laptops in 2018. It is the successor to last year’s Snapdragon 835 mobile platform which was first seen on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones. The complete details about this new chipset will be known tomorrow.


Just like its predecessor, the new Snapdragon 845 will also be built on the 10nm FinFET technology. The Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus rumored to launch in March 2018 might be the first devices to use this new mobile platform from Qualcomm. Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi also announced that the company’s 2018 flagship smartphone will use the Snapdragon 845.

Xioami will launch the Mi 7 in the first half of 2018 as the successor to Mi 6. The Xiaomi Mi 6 which was limited to the Chinese market is powered by the Qualcomm 835 chipset. The Snapdragon 845 might come equipped with the Adreno 550 GPU and the latest X20 LTE modem for gigabit LTE connectivity. Compared to the Snapdragon 835, the Snapdragon 845 will also come with better ISP and DSP.
