Joe Belfiore
One of the most reliable supporters of Windows Phone has now called time on the OS, and has announced that it is withdrawing support for 3 of its biggest games.
Gameloft will no longer be supporting Windows Phones on Dungeon Hunter 5, and Sniper Fury for Windows Mobile and Modern Combat 5.
For Windows Phone users: Microsoft announced recently that they are discontinuing development of this platform. For that reason, we will not be able to keep creating updates for DH5 for Windows Phones, and we are giving Windows Phones users the possibility to switch to an iOS/Android/PC device. This action is irreversible, so please be sure of your choice.
For Dungeon Hunter, Gameloft will help users transfer their account to Android, and for Sniper Fury and Modern Combat users will be able to transfer their progress to the PC versions of the game using their Microsoft Account.
Joe Belfiore’s announcement on Twitter that Windows 10 Mobile will not receive any further significant updates has given permission for many Windows Phone hold-outs to finally take action, including developers with apps in the store, and a number of developers have withdrawn their apps as a form of closure. It appears many Microsoft luminaries such as Belfiore, Nadella and Gates now use Android devices with Microsoft apps and utilities, suggesting the last Windows Mobile users should probably also follow suit.

After admitting that Microsoft has no intention to further develop Windows 10 Mobile and will only push Bug fixes and security updates, Joe Belfiore has also admitted that app devs are not interested as well. The tweet may sound like the “moment of truth” as this is the official admission that Microsoft has no hopes of catching up other platforms in terms of apps.
So, Joe Belfiore has revealed in his tweet how hard Microsoft has tried to incentivize apps developers. They have paid money to devs, even wrote apps for them. But the low volume of users is why most dev companies don’t want to invest.
This again is half-truth as most of Windows 10 Mobile/Lumia fans will remember how deadly was the blow offered by Nadella to the Windows Mobile ecosystem. He abruptly changed the volume strategy followed by Balmer to achieve a critical volume base for Windows 10 Mobile. This led to the current sorry situation which ultimately will take Windows 10 Mobile as we know to its grave.

While it is well understood that Windows 10 Mobile as a platform has no future as Microsoft has all but refused to develop it further. But Microsoft has not admitted this officially either by refusing to comment or by throwing some PR jargons here and there.
But now it comes from none other than Joe Belfiore that Microsoft has already given in and has accepted the ultimate defeat of its Mobile platform.
There will be no new features and hardware for Windows 10 Mobile. All Windows 10 Mobile users can hope for now are only bug fixes and security updates.
This is still not the complete picture though as Microsoft is already working on new first-party mobile hardware that will be powered by the Andromeda or Windows 10 on ARM with CShell. You can read more about Andromeda here.
