Nokia 1 launched in India - Price, Availability, Specs and Offers !

Today, HMD Global launched the affordable Nokia 1 with Android Oreo Go edition in India.The Pricing is the key point here. Nokia 1 will retail for just ₹5,499 from March 28. It will be available in most offline stores. For now it will not be available in online stores. The Xpress-On covers will be available from April, for ₹450.

Available in warm red and dark blue the Nokia 1 will be up for sale starting March 28, 2018 at a recommended best buy price of Rs. 5,499/-. The Xpress-On covers will be available separately starting April, 2018 at an MRP of Rs. 450/- only. The New Nokia phones India Launch Date Revealed

 

         HMD Global announced 4 new smartphones ( Nokia 8 Sirocco , Nokia 7 Plus , Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 1 ) and a feature phone ( Nokia 8110 4G ) during the Mobile World Congress at Barcelona on Sunday. Nokia 1 comes with Android Oreo ( Go Edition ) , a version of Android optimised for devices with 1GB RAM or less. All the other smartphones will be running Android One , which means that they would get faster updates and stay pure. Additionally , the older phones above Nokia 3 will also join the Android One programme. The new Nokia pro camera will be available to all Nokia smartphones having Zeiss lens ( Nokia 8 Sirocco , Nokia 8 , Nokia 7 Plus , Nokia 7 and  Nokia 6.1 ) . With the pro camera , you can control the shutter speed , ISO , exposure , white balance and focusing . The iconic Nokia 8110 comes with 4G connectivity and apps including Google Assistant , Google Search , Google Maps , Facebook and Twitter.

   
     While the average retail price and the expected launch dates for the phones have been announced , there has been no word on the exact prices and launch date for India. But later , in an interview with Gadgets 360 , Ajey Mehta ( Vice President India )  has disclosed the Indian Launch schedule.

Nokia Mobile at MWC 2018

   

The GSMA Mobile World Congress is a combination of the world's largest exhibition for the mobile industry and a conference featuring prominent executives representing mobile operators, device manufacturers, technology providers, vendors and content owners from across the world.

    During last year's MWC Nokia announced it's return to the mobile industry in partnership with HMD Global ,by introducing Nokia 6, Nokia 5 , Nokia 3 and the legendary Nokia 3310.

    Like always Nokia is attending MWC this year too. HMD Global is expected to announce at least 4 smartphones and 2 feature phones. The flagship Nokia 8 sirocco / Nokia 9 , Android One Nokia  7 Plus , Nokia 6 2nd generation , Nokia 1 and maybe a Nokia 4 and successors to Nokia 5 and Nokia 3. The feature phones include Nokia 8110 4G.

Nokia 7 Plus (Android One) and Nokia 1 leak in HD renders

  

Evan Blass the famous Mobile reporter tweeted the HD images of Nokia 7 Plus and the entry-level Nokia 1. What's interesting is that the Nokia 7 Plus will be an Android one Phone. In fact, the first Android One smartphone from Nokia. Nokia has been very Swift in delivering Android updates. Android one will help them deliver updates even faster. In addition, all the Nokia smartphones launching from now will support Project Treble . Nokia 1 is expected to run Android 8.1 Go edition (optimised for low memory devices).

Nokia 2 will directly Update to Android 8.1 Oreo

HMD has promised 2 years of Android OS update support for all of its Android smartphones and that includes the 1GB RAM Nokia 2 too. But whether with 1GB RAM Nokia 2 will be really supported for Android Oreo and Android P has been asked by many readers. Now HMD has gone ahead and revealed its plan to bring Android Oreo to Nokia 2.

As revealed by HMD CPO Juho Sarvikas, Nokia 2 will certainly get Oreo but not with Android 8.0 Oreo release but with Android 8.1 release. Google has tested and released Android 8.1 to its Pixel & Nexus range very recently. We reached to Juho to re-confirm this before posting here and it seems this is because Android 8.1 brings new hardware features targeting low-RAM devices.

Android 8.1 (API level 27) adds two new hardware-feature constants, FEATURE_RAM_LOW and FEATURE_RAM_NORMAL, to Package Manager. These constants allow you target the distribution of your apps and APK splits to normal- or low-RAM devices.

[RUMOUR] Nokia 1: the first Nokia Android Go Smartphone

First things first, we can’t comment on the authenticity of this Nokia 1 rumor and it may be a fake too, as it comes from Eldar Murtazin. If you have been a Nokia fan since the yore, you may know him well. He has a mixed sort of reputation when it comes to leaks. That’s why we had avoided covering this leak so far but then we got inundated with tips regarding this. So, here you go.

Anyways, as per a tweet posted by Eldar Murtazin, Nokia 1, that should be even cheaper than Nokia 2, is coming in March 2018. It will be the first Nokia Android Go smartphone and may come with 1GB RAM/8GB ROM.

Nokia 1 will come with a 720p, IPS LCD display. It may be priced at 5990 Rubles (103 USD) according to the rumor.

We tried to verify the rumor with our sources but none could confirm it. So, take it with a pinch of salt. Nokia 2 itself is the bare minimum when it comes to specs and hardware. The question is how and why HMD will create a Nokia 1 when it will not come at a great price and other differentiators as compared to the Nokia 2.
