Android 9.0 Pie Official Update is now rolling out to Nokia 6.1

Nokia 6.1 or the Nokia 6 (2018) has now become HMD Global's second smartphone to receive the final Android 9.0 Pie stable build. To recall, the Nokia 7 Plus became the company's first phone to receive the Android Pie final build back in September, however, the initial rollout was plagued by certain bugs. The Finnish smartphone maker has now gone ahead and fulfilled its promise of rolling out the latest software update for Nokia 6.1 before the end of October. In accordance, we can expect the Nokia 6.1 Plus to also get the stable update in the next couple of days, considering it has already received it via Nokia Beta Labs.

Earlier this month, HMD had announced that while Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 6.1 Plus would be receiving Android Pie stable this month itself, the Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco are expected to get it sometime next month. The company has, however, not provided any clear dates for Android Pie release on any these smartphones. Prompt updates are now emerging to be a prowess for Nokia's smartphone lineup considering the fact that all phones are based on Google's Android One programme.

With Android Pie, the Nokia 6.1 now gets features including Adaptive Battery, Slices, redesigned system navigation gestures, and many more. Nokia 6.1 users also get "exclusive" access to App Actions that offer predictions and display the expected next action in the UI.

HMD Global released Kernel source code for Nokia 8

HMD Global is slowly releasing source codes of its phones, and codes for Nokia 6 and Nokia 1 are already available. HMD has released the Open Source code for Nokia 8 now. This is not the full code, but just one part of it that HMD is obligated to release under the GPL or LGPL, and some other open source licenses that allow the code to be released. HMD still has to release codes for Nokia 7 plus, Nokia 8 Sirocco and maybe older phones ( Nokia 5, Nokia 3 and Nokia 2) if there is any need for them to do that. Anyway, this is commendable, but I think many are waiting for a bootloader to get unlocked in the near future.

[EXCLUSIVE] HMD teasing “Nokia X” launch on April 27 in China

After launching Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco, HMD is teasing something very interesting for China. Billboards and short advertisements during movie screenings feature a certain “Nokia X”. The teasers even reveal the purported launch date of April 27. Check the images above and below posted by Nokia fans in China.

It is not clear immediately what we are looking it as our sources have tipped us a Nokia 9 launch not before H2 2018. So, that leaves us with only Nokia 4 in term of new and unannounced smartphones. But Nokia 4 is a no go for China, considering “4” is considered an unlucky number in China.

So, probably Nokia 3 or Nokia 5 2018 versions may be heading to China. HMD didn’t launch original Nokia 3 and 5 in China and may have now planned to make amendments.

It though takes you down the memory lane with the name “Nokia X“. Nokia X was the first fruit of Nokia/Microsoft’s decision to fork Android to make it look like Windows Phone.

[DOWNLOAD] Nokia Camera with Lumia’s Pro Camera Mode for the Nokia 7

The Nokia brand has been doing rather well under HMD Global. We applaud HMD Global’s commitment to the Android One program and timely security updates. The Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco are among the latest mid-range and high-end devices from HMD Global announced at Mobile World Congress 2018, and while the company’s full-throttled support of the Android One program took center stage, there was another exciting announcement for Nokia fans: the return of the Lumia Pro Camera mode in the Nokia Camera app.

The company announced that it would be bringing back the iconic Pro Camera mode that was one of the best features of the camera app from the Lumia phones. This mode is available in the Nokia 7 Plus and the Nokia 8 Sirocco out of the box, but it was unclear whether or not the feature would be implemented in the camera app for older Nokia-branded devices. HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas, said that the Nokia Camera’s Pro Camera mode would roll out to all devices with ZEISS optics, so some have speculated that this would include previous-generation Nokia devices. Now, we have some direct confirmation that HMD Global might very well release this feature for other Nokia phones the APK of the latest camera app from a leaked Nokia 7 OTA update has been posted online.

The leaked OTA was pulled by XDA Senior Member, a prolific leaker of firmware for Nokia devices and a finder of many prototype devices. The OTA is an unreleased build for the Chinese variant of the Nokia 7, and it includes version 8.0260.50 of the camera app with the Pro Camera mode. He has confirmed that it works on his device and has shared the APK file so that the wider community can enjoy the app.

Theoretically, it should work on any Nokia-branded device with Zeiss optics as HMD Global claimed it would. It has only been tested on the 7 so far, but it’ll likely work on the Nokia 8 as well. New Nokia phones are launching in India on April 4 | Android 8.1 now available for Nokia 5 and Nokia 6

  The wait is over ! The newly announced Nokia phones are launching in India on April 4th. HMD Global has sent out media invites for the launch event which will take place in Delhi. The invite reads "We welcome you to discover the N-powered city of tomorrow". Looks like HMD will be doing something different like the Nokia 2 launch event which took place in a Metro station. 

  

  We can expect the launch of all the newly announced smartphones - Nokia 8110 4G, Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco. Nokia 1 is already available to buy from the retail stores starting from today.

  

   We will update you with the exact pricing and availability as soon as HMD announces it.

   Another sweet news is that Android 8.1 update is available for Nokia 6 and Nokia 5.

[EXCLUSIVE] New Nokia Phones are listed in Poorvika (India). Nokia 8 Sirocco launched In China

HMD Global announced 4 new smartphones and a feature phone during the Mobile World Congress earlier. Today they have launched Nokia 8 Sirocco in China. The flagship is listed on JD.com for ¥4699.00 , which is approximately ₹47000 / 750 USD / 600 Euro. The flash sale begins on April 3. At the time of writing this article the interests have crossed 10,500 which is a good number, considering the old chipset and lack of OIS. 

  Another interesting news, especially for Indians, is that all the new Nokia phones announced are now listed in Poorvika's online store. This indicates that we are nearing the launch of these phones in India. The prices have not been mentioned. They are marked as 'upcoming phones'. This listing confirms that the phones won't be online-exclusive. All the Nokia phones will be available in both Online as well as offline stores.

Nokia 8 Sirocco, 7 Plus & 6 2018 too are Google’s “Android Enterprise Recommended” devices

Nokia 8 was the first Nokia Smartphone to get a place in the Google’s “Android Enterprise Recommended” devices list. But now three newly launched Nokia smartphones Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 6 2018 have joined the Nokia 8 in the “Android Enterprise Recommended” program.

This was announced by Nokia Mobile on its Twitter account.

Google has recently started certifying Android smartphones for Enterprise to make it easy for Business customers to choose a secure and capable device. Google’s “Android Enterprise Recommended” program is the answer to the dilemma of enterprise buyers about which Android smartphones to go for.

Nokia 8 Sirocco's camera competes with the other Flagships

  HMD Global launched the flagship Nokia 8 Sirocco for an average retail price of  €749 ( Will be available from early April ).This puts it straight against other premium flagships - Google Pixel 2 , Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Apple iPhone X. HMD Global also said that they are using a new imaging suite. So many would be curious to know how well the Nokia 8 Sirocco's camera with Zeiss optics performs.

   All of these images show a considerable improvement over the last year's Nokia 8. HMD Global have been gradually improving the imaging experience ( Now there is a Pro Mode too!)  in the Nokia phones, which were once the industry leaders in-terms of camera quality. Let's hope that they will become the best, once again in the coming years.

The New Nokia phones India Launch Date Revealed

 

         HMD Global announced 4 new smartphones ( Nokia 8 Sirocco , Nokia 7 Plus , Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 1 ) and a feature phone ( Nokia 8110 4G ) during the Mobile World Congress at Barcelona on Sunday. Nokia 1 comes with Android Oreo ( Go Edition ) , a version of Android optimised for devices with 1GB RAM or less. All the other smartphones will be running Android One , which means that they would get faster updates and stay pure. Additionally , the older phones above Nokia 3 will also join the Android One programme. The new Nokia pro camera will be available to all Nokia smartphones having Zeiss lens ( Nokia 8 Sirocco , Nokia 8 , Nokia 7 Plus , Nokia 7 and  Nokia 6.1 ) . With the pro camera , you can control the shutter speed , ISO , exposure , white balance and focusing . The iconic Nokia 8110 comes with 4G connectivity and apps including Google Assistant , Google Search , Google Maps , Facebook and Twitter.

   
     While the average retail price and the expected launch dates for the phones have been announced , there has been no word on the exact prices and launch date for India. But later , in an interview with Gadgets 360 , Ajey Mehta ( Vice President India )  has disclosed the Indian Launch schedule.
