[DOWNLOAD] Nokia Camera with Lumia’s Pro Camera Mode for the Nokia 7

The Nokia brand has been doing rather well under HMD Global. We applaud HMD Global’s commitment to the Android One program and timely security updates. The Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco are among the latest mid-range and high-end devices from HMD Global announced at Mobile World Congress 2018, and while the company’s full-throttled support of the Android One program took center stage, there was another exciting announcement for Nokia fans: the return of the Lumia Pro Camera mode in the Nokia Camera app.

The company announced that it would be bringing back the iconic Pro Camera mode that was one of the best features of the camera app from the Lumia phones. This mode is available in the Nokia 7 Plus and the Nokia 8 Sirocco out of the box, but it was unclear whether or not the feature would be implemented in the camera app for older Nokia-branded devices. HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas, said that the Nokia Camera’s Pro Camera mode would roll out to all devices with ZEISS optics, so some have speculated that this would include previous-generation Nokia devices. Now, we have some direct confirmation that HMD Global might very well release this feature for other Nokia phones the APK of the latest camera app from a leaked Nokia 7 OTA update has been posted online.

The leaked OTA was pulled by XDA Senior Member, a prolific leaker of firmware for Nokia devices and a finder of many prototype devices. The OTA is an unreleased build for the Chinese variant of the Nokia 7, and it includes version 8.0260.50 of the camera app with the Pro Camera mode. He has confirmed that it works on his device and has shared the APK file so that the wider community can enjoy the app.
Theoretically, it should work on any Nokia-branded device with Zeiss optics as HMD Global claimed it would. It has only been tested on the 7 so far, but it’ll likely work on the Nokia 8 as well. Download the Nokia Camera APK file below with the Pro Camera mode feature and let us know if it works on your Nokia device!

[LEAK] Nokia 9 to have TA-1042, TA-1005 & TA-1009 Model Id's

A new leak originating in China reveals three Nokia 9 variants TA-1005, TA-1009 and the earlier certified TA-1042. The leak also claims that the earlier leaked TA-1054 is not Nokia 9 but Nokia 6 2018 version. The leakster has posted an image that reveals all product variant codes of Nokia 7 and Nokia 9 on Baidu in China.

As one can notice in the image above, these three Nokia 9 variants are shown to be Single-SIM variants. So, possibly there may be more Nokia 9 variants with Dual-SIM support too.

We exclusively reported via our sources that Nokia 9 will now be launched only in early 2018. There have been many leaks of Nokia 9 with the recent lot coming via many Nokia 9 dummy images leaking via listings of cases and covers in markets like the UK and the US.

Nokia 9 details:

As per various leaks, Nokia 9 will sport an edge to edge 3D glass display and a virtually bezel-less design. We have heard that Nokia 9 will come with 6GB/8GB RAM, 128GB ROM, IP68 certification. It will also have a fingerprint scanner on the back just below the camera.Nokia 9 may be price around EUR 749 in European markets.

[LEAK] Nokia 6 2018 (TA-1054) to feature Snapdragon 6XX & design changes

A new leak originating in China claims that the earlier certified TA-1054 which we assumed to be a Nokia 9 variant is actually a Nokia 6 variant. The leakster has posted an image of Nokia 6 aka TA-1054’s label on Baidu in China.

As per the leaked label above Nokia 6 2018 version comes with 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The leakster further claims that it will come with an upgraded processor probably from the Snapdragon 6XX range.
Nokia 6 will come with reduced bezels thereby also ditching hardware buttons in favor of software buttons. FingerPrint has also moved from front to back. The design will get slimmer at 6mm with 8mm protruding camera module.
This is what the translation of the leak posted on Baidu reads like:
First cancel the front can not be pressed fingerprint module, changed to the post-fingerprints. By narrowing the chin, the button has also become a virtual button, which is very similar with NOKIA 7.
Second, there has been no small change in the camera module, Plate thickness between the screen to the rear shell about 6mm plus a total of 8mm protruding camera, however, Plate2 cleverly borrow NOKIA 5 camera, the rear shell and camera trim Added a roundabout transition between the camera below the layout of the fingerprint recognition! Finally, NOKIA faith lLOGO!
I stubbornly believe that the reason why the generation is highly criticized, the reason should be that 430 processor. I think the appearance of the changes at the same time, the processor upgrade for everyone is even more impatient! HMD is bound to be equipped with its processor to handle more powerful, better performance!

[CONFIRMED] HMD will update the Camera app for NOKIA Android devices

HMD Global’s Chief Product Manager Juho Sarvikas, who is very active on Twitter communicating with fans and customers, and I find that most admirable, confirmed that HMD will indeed update the camera application on the new Nokia devices. This is not completely a new information, because Juho previously stated that HMD is taking seriously the feedback for the camera application.

Apart from answering yes to the direct question “will HMD update the camera app”, he also affirmatively responded to a comment that the UI of the Nokia Lumia Camera is the “most convenient UI ever.”

HMD already changed a little bit of its camera UI with the Nokia 8 (where the manual settings can be accessed within the camera UI), but also with the Nokia 7. Unfortunately, the information we have about Nokia 7 is limited, so we don’t really know how much the app is improved or how much does it look like to the old Nokia camera UI. As you probably already know, HMD is rightful owner of the Lumia Camera UI.

All in all, HMD keeps working on improving their products, while listening to good suggestions from the community. Big kudos to Juho for doing a great job and finding time as the CPO to engage with the community.

HMD Global sent out the invitations, revealing nothing except the date to ‘unveil the next milestone for Nokia phones’. However, as it precedes the Nokia 7 global launch, it is most likely to be about the same product.

Nokia 7 is said to be the company’s first smartphone to boast a glass body design. It also carry forwards the ‘Bothie’ feature from Nokia 8, which allows you to capture images and record videos from both the rear and front cameras simultaneously.
In terms of specifications, the Nokia 7 packs a 5.2-inch full HD IPS display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. It is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC, and paired with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

Nokia 7 is fueled by a 3,000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB Type-C port, and NFC. HMD Global promised at the global launch that the Nokia 7 will be upgradable to the Android 8.0 Oreo. It is expected to run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box when it launches in India tomorrow.

Nokia 7 expected price

Internationally, the Nokia 7 is priced at RMB 2,499 (approximately Rs 24,600) for the base variant, and RMB 2,699 (approximately Rs 26,500) for the higher variant. At the given pricing, Nokia 7 could compete against Honor 8 Pro, Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017), and the Moto Z2 Play in the sub-Rs 30,000 segment.
